Scanner is S-tier and it's not close. Three instant imposter detections for $85. I used to spend entire shifts second-guessing edge cases. Now I scan the suspicious ones and move on. The time saved and mistakes prevented are worth way more than $85.
Terminal 13 has a shop where you spend earned cash on items. Some items are must-buys. Others are complete wastes of money.
Tier List
| Tier | Item | Price | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Scanner | $85 | Must buy every run |
| A | Landmine | $40 | Must-buy after mistakes |
| C | Beartrap | $40 | Situational, usually skip |
| D | Music Box | $50 | Waste of money |
| F | Blunderbuss | $60 | Never buy |
S-Tier Scanner ($85)
The Scanner instantly tells you if a traveler is human (green glow) or imposter (red glow). Three charges per purchase.
Why it's S-tier
- Eliminates guesswork on edge cases
- Required for ??? travelers (no passport info)
- Saves time on verification
- Prevents costly mistakes
- Three uses per purchase is solid value
When to use
- ??? travelers (no other way to verify)
- Suspicious cases you can't confirm
- When you're tired and making mistakes
- Chapter 2 passengers without ID
Buy priority is first item every run. The $85 investment prevents mistakes that cost you more in the long run.
A-Tier Landmine ($40)
Places on the ground. Explodes when a monster steps on it, dealing massive damage.
Why it's A-tier
- One-shots the Entity and Corrector
- Cheapest defensive item
- Reliable because monsters always step on it
- Saves you from shotgun panic
When to buy
- Immediately after letting an imposter through
- Before your shift ends if you made a mistake
- As insurance if you're unsure about a traveler
Put it at the sliding door (Chapter 1) or entrance (Chapter 2). Monsters walk straight into it.
Why not S-tier is because you only need it if you make mistakes. Perfect runs don't require Landmines.
C-Tier Beartrap ($40)
Places on the ground. Traps and damages monsters that step on it.
Why it's C-tier
- Less damage than Landmine
- Only useful for Window Imposter (Chapter 2)
- The Window Imposter falls anyway, giving you time to shoot
- Same price as Landmine but worse
When to consider
- Chapter 2 before fixing the printer
- If you want extra safety against Window Imposter
Why it's usually a skip is because the Window Imposter falls flat when climbing through. You have time to shoot without a Beartrap. Save your money for Scanner and Landmine.
D-Tier Music Box ($50)
Places on the ground. Plays music that distracts monsters temporarily.
Why it's D-tier
- Only provides temporary distraction
- Doesn't damage monsters
- Costs more than Landmine
- Landmine solves the problem permanently
- The music is annoying and never stops
When to buy is never. Landmine is cheaper and actually kills the threat.
The annoying part is that once placed, the Music Box plays forever. You'll hear the same tune for the rest of your run. Not worth it.
F-Tier Blunderbuss ($60)
Powerful shotgun with limited ammo. Breaks after a few shots.
Why it's F-tier
- Your default shotgun has infinite ammo
- Blunderbuss breaks after ~5 shots
- Costs $60 for temporary firepower
- Default shotgun kills everything fine
- Complete waste of money
When to buy is never. Your infinite-ammo shotgun handles every combat situation. The Blunderbuss is a noob trap.
Chapter 2 Items
Chapter 2 has the same shop with one addition.
Judgement ($60) is another limited-ammo shotgun. Same problems as Blunderbuss. Skip it.
The Robux items (Revolver, Troll Banana, Jumpscare) are cosmetic/troll items. Not worth real money for gameplay.
Optimal Buy Order
Every run
- Scanner ($85) is first priority
- Save remaining cash
After making a mistake
- Landmine ($40) immediately after letting imposter through
If you have extra cash
- Second Scanner ($85) for more verification charges
- Emergency Landmine ($40) for insurance
Never buy
- Music Box
- Blunderbuss
- Judgement
Money Management
You earn cash from
- Processing travelers (even imposters)
- Tips from humans
- Looting dead imposters (walk over bodies)
- Filling goo canisters (free items, not cash)
Maximize earnings
- Process everyone, don't skip travelers
- Always loot dead imposters
- Mop goo for free items (saves money)
Spending priority
- Scanner first ($85)
- Landmine only when needed ($40)
- Save the rest
Free Items from Goo
Mopping imposter goo fills a canister. Full canisters give free shop items. This is the only way to get items without spending cash.
Goo tips
- Shoot imposters outside your booth (less mess inside)
- Mop immediately after kills
- Don't let goo pile up
Common Mistakes
Buying Blunderbuss. Your shotgun is infinite. Blunderbuss is temporary. Math doesn't work.
Buying Music Box over Landmine. Distraction vs. death. Landmine wins.
Not buying Scanner. The $85 feels expensive but prevents mistakes worth more.
Hoarding cash. Money doesn't carry between runs. Spend it on Scanners.
Forgetting to loot. Walk over dead imposters. Free cash.
