Steal a Brainrot Guide

Steal a Brainrot is a Roblox game where you collect meme characters called Brainrots, protect them in your base, and steal from other players. After 100+ hours grinding through rebirths, I can tell you the game is deceptively deep once you understand the systems.

How the Game Works

You start with $100 and buy your first Brainrot from the conveyor belt. Each Brainrot generates cash per second based on its rarity. Your goal is to build income, upgrade your base, and eventually collect the rarest units in the game.

The twist is that other players can steal your Brainrots. You need to balance offense (stealing valuable units) with defense (protecting your own).

Rarity Tiers Explained

Steal a Brainrot has 8 rarity tiers:

Rarity Spawn Rate Income Range
Common Always available $10-50/s
Rare Every 2 minutes $50-200/s
Epic Every 5 minutes $200-500/s
Legendary Every 5 minutes $500-1,500/s
Mythic Every 15 minutes $2,000-15,000/s
Brainrot God Every 30 minutes $50,000-500,000/s
Secret Very rare $300,000-150M+/s
OG Extremely rare Varies wildly

Focus on Legendary and Mythic units early. They provide the best income-to-effort ratio before you can afford Secrets.

Base Building Basics

Your base has limited slots for Brainrots. Each rebirth unlocks more slots and floors. Here's what matters:

  • Slot placement affects how easy units are to steal
  • Traps and turrets slow down thieves
  • Multiple floors spread your valuable units across different areas
  • Lock Base button gives 60 seconds of protection

Put your best Brainrots in the hardest-to-reach spots. I lost a Mythic in my first week because I left it near the entrance.

Stealing Strategy

Stealing is the fastest way to get valuable Brainrots without spending cash. The basics:

  1. Scout bases before committing
  2. Wait for shield timers to drop
  3. Use mobility gear (Grapple Hook, Gravity Coil)
  4. Grab and run before the owner notices

The pickup animation takes 2 seconds. That's enough time for an alert player to stop you. Practice your routes.

Fuse Machine

The Fuse Machine lets you combine 4 Brainrots into a new one. Higher rarity inputs give better chances at rare outputs.

How to use it:

  1. Grab a Brainrot from your base (hold E)
  2. Walk to the Fuse Machine near the Shop
  3. Stand on the Collect Zone to deposit
  4. Repeat until you have 4 units deposited
  5. Press E to start the fusion

The Fuse Machine returned in The Return update (January 2026) and is great for turning duplicate low-tier units into something better.

Rebirth System

Rebirthing resets your cash and Brainrots but gives permanent bonuses:

  • Higher cash multipliers
  • More base slots
  • New gear unlocks
  • Longer raid protection
  • Additional floors (at Rebirth 2 and 10)

The game has 18 rebirth levels. Don't avoid rebirthing because you're attached to your units. The multipliers compound over time. Players who rebirth early progress faster than hoarders.

Admin Abuse Events

The best free rewards come from Admin Abuse events:

  • Taco Tuesday happens every Tuesday at 6:00 PM EST
  • Saturday Update happens every Saturday at 3:00 PM EST

During these events, the developer spawns rare Brainrots, triggers special mutations, and gives out free items. Missing Taco Tuesday is like missing free money.

Full schedule in our Admin Abuse Guide.

Mutations and Traits

Brainrots can spawn with mutations that multiply their income:

Mutation Multiplier
Gold 2x
Diamond 3x
Rainbow 5x
Lava 4x
Bloodrot 10x

Traits stack with mutations. A Rainbow Brainrot with the Taco trait earns significantly more than a vanilla version.

Learn all mutations in our Mutations Guide.

Beginner Mistakes to Avoid

After watching new players struggle, here are the common mistakes:

  1. Not rebirthing because you don't want to lose progress
  2. Ignoring Admin Abuse events where free stuff spawns
  3. Leaving valuable units exposed near base entrances
  4. Spending all cash instead of saving for better units
  5. Playing solo when teaming multiplies rewards

Progression Path

Here's the path I recommend:

  1. Buy Commons until you hit $1M
  2. Rebirth 1 as soon as possible
  3. Focus on Legendary spawns
  4. Rebirth 2-3 for Grapple Hook unlock
  5. Start stealing Mythics from other players
  6. Attend every Admin Abuse event
  7. Push for Secrets once you have stable income

The game opens up after Rebirth 3 when you get mobility gear. Before that, you're basically a sitting duck.
