Knockout skins are purely cosmetic penguin outfits that don't affect gameplay. You can buy them directly with Ice or gamble Spins on the egg gacha. Here's everything about the cosmetics system.
How Skins Work
Skins change your penguin's appearance. That's it. No stat boosts, no hitbox changes, no gameplay advantages. A default penguin and a Legendary skin penguin have identical collision physics.
This means you can ignore skins entirely and still compete at the highest level. But if you want to flex on opponents, here's how to get them.
Getting Skins
Two methods exist:
Direct Purchase (Ice)
The shop sells skins for Ice. Prices vary by rarity:
- Common skins cost less Ice
- Rare and Legendary skins cost more
- The shop rotates, so check back regularly
This is the reliable method. See a skin you want, buy it, done. No gambling.
Egg Gacha (Spins)
Spins roll the egg system for random skins. Each spin gives you one skin from the rarity pool.
Rarity tiers:
- Common drops most frequently
- Uncommon drops regularly
- Rare drops occasionally
- Epic drops rarely
- Legendary drops very rarely
The gacha is gambling. You might get a Legendary on your first spin or burn 50 Spins on Commons. If you hate RNG, stick to direct purchases.
Earning Ice and Spins
Ice sources:
- Winning matches (best source)
- Getting knockouts
- Daily bonuses
- Redeeming codes
Spin sources:
- Codes (primary source)
- Special events
- Milestone rewards
Spins are much rarer than Ice. The 6 free Spins from current codes are valuable. Don't waste them hoping for Legendaries unless you're okay with disappointment.
Are Skins Worth It?
Depends on why you play.
Buy skins if:
- You enjoy cosmetic customization
- You want to stand out in lobbies
- You have excess Ice with nothing else to spend on
Skip skins if:
- You only care about winning
- You're saving Ice for future content
- You hate the gacha system
The game is new (December 2025), so more skins will release over time. Early purchases might feel outdated when cooler options drop later.
Skin Rarity and Flex Value
Legendary skins are rare enough that seeing one in a lobby is notable. If you want to flex, Legendaries are the goal.
But here's the thing: skill flexes harder than skins. A default penguin winning consistently impresses more than a Legendary skin player falling off early.
Tips for Skin Collectors
-
Redeem all codes first. Free Spins and Ice add up. Check our codes page for the current list.
-
Wait for shop rotations. The skin you want might appear for direct purchase later.
-
Don't chase Legendaries with Spins. The rates are brutal. Buy directly if possible.
-
Save during events. New skins often release during updates with better acquisition methods.
-
Check the Discord. braxworks announces new skins and limited drops there first.
Duplicate Skins
If you roll a duplicate from eggs, you get Ice compensation instead. The amount depends on the skin's rarity. Duplicates aren't wasted, just converted.
Limited and Event Skins
Some skins only appear during special events or limited-time offers. These become rare over time since new players can't obtain them.
If you see a limited skin in the shop or event, grab it if you want it. Waiting means missing out permanently.
