Fish It Beginner Guide

Fish It is a Roblox fishing simulator where you catch fish, sell them for coins, and upgrade gear to catch rarer fish. After 100+ hours across multiple accounts, I mapped the fastest progression path from starter rod to endgame Element Rod.

Your First 30 Minutes

You spawn on Fisherman Island with a Starter Rod. This rod has zero luck and can only catch fish up to 10kg. Your immediate goal is saving 350 coins for the Luck Rod.

Cast your line, wait for a bite, and click rapidly to reel in fish. Sell everything at the fish vendor. Don't waste time trying to catch specific fish. Just grind coins.

Once you hit 350 coins, buy the Luck Rod from Joe's Rods at Stingray Shores. This rod has actual luck stats and catches heavier fish.

Rod Progression Path

Skip intermediate rods. Most players waste coins on small upgrades when they should save for major jumps. Here's the optimal path:

  1. Starter Rod (free) → Luck Rod (350 coins)
  2. Luck Rod → Lucky Rod (2,500 coins)
  3. Lucky Rod → Steampunk Rod (50,000 coins)
  4. Steampunk Rod → Astral Rod (1,000,000 coins)
  5. Astral Rod → Angler Rod (8,000,000 coins)
  6. Angler Rod → Element Rod (quest reward)

The Lucky Rod at 2,500 coins is your first real upgrade. It has enough luck to catch rare fish consistently. Use it until you can afford the Steampunk Rod.

Island Unlock Order

Each island has different fish with different values. Unlock them in this order for optimal money-making:

Fisherman Island (starting area) - Common fish, low value. Leave as soon as possible.

Stingray Shores - Your main hub. Buy rods, bait, and access the enchant system here. Fish here until you have 50,000+ coins.

Kohana Volcano - Talk to the Lava Fisherman to get a free Lava Rod. The fish here sell for 2-3x more than Stingray Shores. Grind here until you hit 1M coins.

Lost Isle - Requires a boat (buy from the dock). This island has mythic fish and is where you'll buy the Angler Rod for 8M. The fish values jump significantly.

Esoteric Depths - The endgame area. Access costs 400 coins per trip via elevator. This is where you farm Enchant Stones and catch the rarest fish in the game.

Ancient Jungle - Newest expansion. Complete the Element Quest here to unlock the best rod in the game.

Money-Making Strategy

Early game (0-100K coins): Fish at Kohana Volcano. The Lava Rod is free and the fish sell well. Don't buy bait yet.

Mid game (100K-1M coins): Switch to Lost Isle once you have a boat. Use Dark Matter Bait (630K) to boost luck by 160%. The investment pays off quickly with legendary catches.

Late game (1M+ coins): Farm Esoteric Depths. Use Aether Bait (3.7M) combined with Luck Potions from codes. Target mythic fish during server events for maximum profit.

Enchant System Explained

Enchants permanently boost your rod's stats. You get Enchant Stones by fishing in Esoteric Depths (roughly 1 in 1,000 casts).

Take your stones to the Enchant Altar in Esoteric Depths. Each enchant costs 400 coins to apply. The enchant you get is random.

Best enchants to keep:

  • Leprechaun II (+50% luck)
  • Empowered I (+20% luck, +10% speed)
  • Reeler I (+7% reel speed)

Don't re-roll endlessly. If you get Leprechaun I or Empowered I early, keep it. Gambling away good enchants for perfect ones wastes stones.

Bait Guide

Only two baits matter:

Dark Matter Bait (630K) - +160% luck, +5% XP, +10% shiny chance. Use this for general farming and leveling.

Aether Bait (3.7M) - +240% luck, +20% mutation chance, +20% shiny chance. Use this during events or when hunting specific rare fish.

Everything else is a waste of coins. The cheap baits don't provide enough benefit to justify the cost.

Catching Rare Fish

Rare fish spawn based on your luck stat, location, and server events. Check the Blackboard on Fisherman Island to see active server buffs.

During "Mythic Boost" events, your chances of catching mythic fish increase significantly. Pop your Luck Potions and Aether Bait during these windows.

Mutated fish sell for much more than regular versions. Use Mutation Potions from codes combined with Aether Bait to maximize mutation catches.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Buying every rod upgrade Skip intermediate rods. Save for the major jumps listed above.

Ignoring the free Lava Rod Talk to the Lava Fisherman at Kohana Volcano. Free rod with decent stats.

Using potions at the wrong time Luck Potions have timers. Only activate them when you're about to fish for an extended session.

Skipping Esoteric Depths Yes, it costs 400 coins per trip. The Enchant Stones and rare fish make it worth every coin.

Re-rolling good enchants Leprechaun I is good enough. Don't waste stones chasing Leprechaun II.

Endgame Goals

Once you have the Angler Rod with Leprechaun II enchant and Aether Bait, you're ready for endgame content.

Complete the Element Quest on Ancient Jungle island to unlock the Element Rod. This is the best rod in the game with 1111% luck, 130% speed, and massive weight capacity.

Fill out your fish index on each island. Some fish only spawn during specific events or conditions. Check the wiki for spawn requirements.
